Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Tragic Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday evening. The athlete was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
Joshua had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.
Honoring the Deceased
Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two close friends.”
The news of his discharge follows the boxing community offered its support for the champion in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
