Aryna Sabalenka finished the tour with an notable 23-3 Grand Slam win-loss record.

World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second straight season.

The 27-year-old captured four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – which included retaining the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles championship.

A Season of Dominance

Throughout the year, Sabalenka competed in a tour-best nine finals, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the entire year as the world number one, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.

This past summer, she became the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.

Historic Statistics

Sabalenka ended the season with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and collected a historic eleven million pounds in earnings.

She received almost 80% of the votes cast by global tennis journalists.

On 28 December, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "help bring women's tennis to a higher level".

Additional WTA Award Honorees

  • Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, was voted after taking a extended hiatus after the arrival of her daughter and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season.
  • Newcomer of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko picked up the award after starting the season positioned outside the world's top 300 and climbing to the eighteenth spot.
  • Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after winning their second Grand Slam title together.
  • Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after advancing to five finals.

Recently, Carlos Alcaraz took home three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third time.
