Iran Reports Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Widespread Counterattacks.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed strikes across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any destruction is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted debris landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
