Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Involving Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player specifically in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the second round.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
